Shopping in London is like shopping in any huge major city : You can find everything, from the 70s clothes of Camden Market to the very upmarket shops in London's west-end.

Let's talk about a few of the big ones you might want to visit :

Harrods of course, outstanding luxury shop with a strict dress code. Even if you can't afford it's luxury goods, you can go in and visit Harrod's a bit like a museum. At Harrod's, you can buy anything. Just ask. Even an elephant, if you can afford it.

For the normal (I mean the non mega rich) people like me (and you probably ?), head for the ground level where you can find affordable things like branded toothbrushes, teddy bears, etc.

87-135 Brompton Road. Tube: Knightbridge
Hamley's is the biggest toys shop in the UK. 6 storeys where you can find all the latest fashionable electronic toys, the beautifull classic ones, enough said. Go there with your kids, they will enjoy every minute of it !
196 Regent Street, between Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus. Tube: Oxford Circus

Liberty is where you can find the most beautifull accessories, scarfs, handbags, clothes, fabrics, stationery, jewellery, etc. The main shop is one of the only buildings that survived the great fire of 1666 intact and is today still standing. Old stones and wood. Amazing. Really amazing.

Now some interesting streets / shopping areas for you to browse :
Oxford street is where lots of shops are. Books, toys, clothes, fashion, the apple store, etc.

Camden Market for all the 70S / 80s fabrics and clothes.
Notting Hill for it's traditionnal market of
Portobello road - old things, furniture, art stuff.
