Just a few interesting points for those of you
who wonder what it is like to live in the UK's capital city.
THE RAIN

Contrary to popular belief, it doesn't rain all of the time in London. Only 85% of the time. Bring your umbrella.
COST OF LIVING

High, very high. Especially rent or mortgage costs. Food is expensive also, and... everything really !
Budget carefully...
THE PEOPLE

London is a city where lots of very different people live together with very few problems.
Different colors, way of life, sexualities, etc.
Most people's atitude is non judgmental and by living in London you can be very free, you can be yourself.
GOING OUT

Great shows, live music, dance, pub and clubs. Everything a capital city can offer, London does. And more...
JOBS

The job market is quite flexible, and moving fast. Most empoyers don't care about qualifications and value experiences. If you're willing and abale, you can work a lot, earn a lot, die young (did I say "die young" ?).
HEALTH

The National Health Service is not in a good shape. Positive : Access to treatment free at the point of delivery. Negative : treatment difficult to access, not enough staff, money, investments.
And hygiene in NHS hospitals is not good.
If you can, go private.
STUDY

Students find London attractive, but very expensive. But employers really do give ex-students looking for a first job a chance. Also, lots of huge universities are in London.
THE TUBE

The oldest underground system in the world. What it means to you and me is that it is not reliable at all, and breaks down all the time. Commuters plug their ipods, read the free papers, and wait.
Not much you can do without it though, London is a really big city, and you need public transport to go anywhere.
